Eligibility Criteria for Indian Coast Guard Vacancy 2017:

Educational Qualification:

1. Assistant Commandant General Duty (Male) – (i) Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (i.e, 1 st Semester to 8th Semester for BE/B.Tech Course or 1st year to last year for Bachelor Degree Candidates wherever applicable). (ii) Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with 60% aggregate in mathematics and physics.(Candidates not in possession of Physics and Maths in 10+2(intermediate) or equivalent level are not eligible for General Duty (GD) and General Duty (Pilot).
2. Assistant Commandant General Duty (Pilot) – (i) Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (i.e, 1 st Semester to 8th Semester for BE/B.Tech Course or 1st year to last year for Bachelor Degree Candidates wherever applicable). Medical Standards:

All candidates recommended in FSB will have to undergo medicals as per extant regulation. However, broad guidelines are as follows,

(a) Height.

(i) Asst Commandant (GD): 157 cms minimum. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations.

(ii) Asst Commandant (Pilot) and CPL holders : Height Minimum 162.5 cms, leg length minimum 99 cms.

(b) Weight. Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable.

(c) Chest. Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms.

(i) Asst Commandant (GD) – 6/6 6/9 – Uncorrected without Glass. 6/6 6/6 – Corrected with Glass.

(ii) Asst Commandant GD(Pilot)/ 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other CPL holders SSA correctable to 6/6.

(e) Tattoo. Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body. However, certain concessions are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal areas/ communities as declared by the Govt. of India. For other candidates permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Age Limit:

1. Assistant Commandant General Duty (Male) – 01 Jul 1993 to 30 Jun 1997 (Both dates inclusive).
2. Assistant Commandant General Duty (Pilot) – 30 Jun 1999 (Both dates inclusive).
3. Assistant Commandant General Duty Pilot (CPL) – 30 Jun 1999 (Both dates inclusive).

Note

(i) The upper age limit of OBC/SC & ST is relaxable as per Govt. of India rules in vogue.

(ii) Maximum 5% relaxation in aggregate in the degree certificate for SC/ST candidates, NCC ’C’ (A grade) holders, Sports person of National level (Inter State & above) and wards of Coast Guard uniform personnel deceased while in service. No relaxation for 12th class marks. (iii) Coast Guard reserves the right to fix the cut off percentage for issue of PSB call up letters.
