IGCAR Kalpakkam Stipendiary Trainee Selection Process:

The Selection Procedure of the Exam will be as follows:

  1. Preliminary Test
  2. Advanced Test, Trade Test/Skills Test

Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam Stipendiary Trainee Exam Details:

For Scientific Officer/E, Technical Officer/E, Scientific Officer/D, Technical Officer/C Posts

  1. The Process of selection involves Personal Interview. In case of receipt of considerable number of applications online/offline screening test will be conducted. The test will be of two hours duration comprising 75 objective type questions in the respective subject. Each question shall carry 3 marks for correct answer and one negative mark for incorrect answer.
  2. Marks scored in the screening test will be used for shortlisting the candidates for personal interview.
  3. Final selection list shall be on the basis of the marks secured in the personal interview.

 

Technician/B (Crane Operator)

The Process of Selection Involves three stages i.e. Stage 1 – Preliminary Test, Stage 2 – Advanced Test and Stage 3 – Trade/Skills Test.

 

Stage 1 – Preliminary Test

The Format of the Preliminary Test Shall be in the Following Format:

  1. Examination Shall Comprise 50 Multiple Choice Question of one hour duration in the following Proportion:
Mathematics Science General Awareness
20 Questions 20 Questions 10 Questions
  1. Three Marks will be awarded for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  2. Qualifying Standards

Minimum Qualifying Standards 40 %

Stan 2 – Advanced Test

  1. All candidates qualifying in Stage 1 to undertake an Advanced test in their respective trade.
  2. The test will comprise 50 Multiple Choice Questions with three (3) Marks awarded for each correct answer and one (1) marks deducted for each incorrect answer. Test will be of two hours duration.
  3. Qualifying Standards
Category UR
Minimum Qualifying Standards 30 %
  1. A merit list of candidates will be prepared based upon scores obtained in Stage 2 only.
  2. In the event of a tie, following criteria shall be adopted in sequence for deciding position in merit list:
  3. Candidate with lower negative Marks in Stage 2 shall be placed higher on the merit list.
  4. Candidate with higher marks in Stage 1 shall be placed higher on the merit list.

iii. Candidate with lower negative Marks in Stage 1 shall be placed higher on the merit list.

  1. Candidate with higher positive marks in Mathematics in Stage 1 shall be placed higher.
  2. Candidate with higher positive marks in Science in Stage 1 shall be placed higher.

“Please Note that Stare 1— Preliminary Test and Stage 2 — Advanced Tests will be conducted in a single session as Section A and Section B. The test will be of three hours duration. Response sheets of the Stage 2 — Advanced test will be evaluated only of those candidates who qualifying in Stage 1— Preliminary Test.”

 

Stave 3 – Trade/Skills Test

  1. Based on the merit list prepared after Stage 2 candidates in each trade will be shortlisted for Trade/Skills Test.
  2. The number of candidates to be shortlisted for Trade/Skills Test would depend upon the number of candidates qualifying for Stage 2 but shall not exceed 4-5 times the number of vacancies in each trade.
  3. Trade/Skills Test will be conducted on a “Go/No-Go” basis.

Candidates clearing the Trade/Skills Test will be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage 2.

 

For Stenographer Grade-III, Upper Division Clerk Posts

Method of Selection: The Process of selection involves two Levels i.e. Level 1: Objective Written Test and Level 2: Stenography Skill Test. Level 1: The written test will be of one and half hours duration comprising 100 objective type questions. Each question shall carry 3 marks for correct answer and one negative mark for incorrect answer.

Objective Test Covering:

  1. General English
  2. General Knowledge
  3. General Intelligence & Reasoning
  4. Quantitative Aptitude [Arithmetic]

Level 2: Stenography Skill Test: Minimum Speed of 80 w.p.m. in English Shorthand and 30 w.p.m. in English Typewriting.

Qualifying Standards for Level 1 & 2: 50% marks for UR.

The number of candidates to be shortlisted for Level 2: Stenography Skill Test shall be @ 1:20.

Final selection shall be on the basis of weightage of marks secured in the Level-1: 40% & Level-2: 60%.

In the event of a tie, following criteria shall be adopted in sequence for deciding position in merit list:

  1. Candidate with higher marks in Level 2 shall be placed higher.
  2. Date of Birth.
  3. Alphabetical order of name (First Name, Middle name and Surname, in that order)

 

Driver (OG)

Method of Selection: The Process of selection involves two Levels i.e. Level 1: Objective Written Test and Level 2: Driving Test. Only those candidates qualifying in Level 1 written test will be called for Level 2 Driving Test.

Level 1: The written test will be of two hours duration comprising 50 objective type questions. Each question shall carry 3 marks for correct answer and one negative mark for incorrect answer.

Objective Test Covering: General Awareness, General Intelligence, Elementary Math and General English & Hindi. Driving Technique & Motor Car Mechanism aimed at testing knowledge of driving skills and procedures, duties of drivers, fuel efficiency and fuel economy, basic maintenance of the vehicle, servicing, emergency handling techniques, tools and documents required with the vehicle, types of vehicles, traffic rules and regulations, ability to recognize traffic signals, traffic signs, hand signals and road markings, simple queries about the assemblies of vehicle systems etc.

Level 2: Driving Test (Testing the driving skills and knowledge of motor driving, motor mechanics and traffic rules & regulations). Qualifying Standards for Level 1 & 2: 50% marks for UR.

The number of candidates to be shortlisted for Level 2: Driving Test shall be @ 1;20. Final selection shall be on the basis of weightage of marks secured in the Level-1: 40% & Level-2: 60%.
