HWB Stipendiary Trainee Selection Process:

The Selection Procedure of the Exam will be as follows:

  1. Written Test
  2. Skill Test, Interview & Physical Assessment Test

 

Heavy Water Board (HWB) Stipendiary Trainee Exam Center:

Stage 1 & 2 Written Examinations for Category-I & II Trainees only is proposed to be conducted in the following Centres:-

  1. Hyderabad
  2. Madurai
  3. Kota
  4. Bhubaneswar
  5. Mumbai

Candidate may indicate their choice of Centre in the order of preference (atleast three Centres) in their Application Form. Allocation of Centers will be decided based on the number of candidates registering for each centre. Requests for change of Centre once opted will not be entertained. HWB reserves the right to add or delete centre(s) depending upon the number of candidates from various regions. The Written Examinations / Tests / Interview (wherever applicable) for posts other than Category I & II Trainees, will be held in MUMBAI or any other Centre as decided by Heavy Water Board. The decision of HWB shall be final

 

Selection Method for Technical Officer-D:

In case, the response is more, HWB reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview by conducting screening test of the eligible candidates. The decision of HWB will be final and binding. Final Selection of the candidates will be based on the performance of the candidates in Interview alone.

 

Selection Method for Category I Trainees:

Stipendiary Trainee – Category-I: Written Test and Interview.

– Objective type Written Test of Two Hour duration in the following proportion :

Part-A – Psychometric/Aptitude/General Knowledge – 30 Questions

Part-B – Day-to-Day Science – 20 Questions

Part-C – Specific to Discipline – 50 Questions

– Each correct answer will carry 1 (one) mark and each wrong answer will carry ½ [half] negative mark.

– Candidates will be called for interview on the basis of merit of marks obtained in Written Test in the ratio 1:5. Final Selection will be made on the basis of Written Test and Personal Interview.

– Minimum marks for qualifying in the Interview will be 50% for empanelment.

– Weightage of Marks for selection will be 70% in Stage-I(Written Test) & 30% in Stage-II(Interview).

 

Selection Method Of Category – II Stipendiary Trainees:

STIPENDIARY TRAINEE – CATEGORY-II The selection process for Category – II will comprise of 3 stages. (Stage 1 & 2 –Written Test and Stage 3 – Skill Test). Stage 1 & 2 Written Tests will be conducted on the same day in multiple sessions.

STAGE 1 – Preliminary Test:

– 50 objective type questions consisting of Mathematics-20 questions, Science- 20 questions, and General Awareness-10 questions of one hour duration.

– “3” (Three) Marks will be awarded for each correct answer and “1” (One) Mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

– All candidates with <40% in General Category and <30% in reserved category will be screened out

STAGE 2 – Advanced Test:

– All candidates Screened in Stage-I Test will only be allowed to undertake Stage-2 – Advanced Test.

– The Stage-2 Test will comprise of 50 Objective type questions from the respective trades for ITI and HSC (12th) for Process Plant Operator/Chemical (Laboratory) (equal % of question from Physics, Chemistry & Maths).

– “3” (Three) Marks will be awarded for each correct answer and “1” (One) Mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

– All candidates with <30% in General Category and <20% in reserved category will be screened out.

– A Merit list of candidates will be prepared based on scores obtained in Stage 2 Test only.

STAGE 3 – Skill Test:

Candidates who have cleared the Stage-2 Advanced test will only be called for Stage3 – Skill Test on merit basis of marks obtained in Stage-2 in the ratio 1:5. The Skill test will be on go/no-go basis. Candidates clearing the Skill Test will be shortlisted and empanelled in the order of merit based on marks secured in Stage 2.

 

PHYSICAL STANDARDS FOR BOTH CATEGORY – I & II STIPENDIARY TRAINEES :

No deformity. Night or Colour blindness shall be a disqualification. Those who are having perforated ear drums need not apply. However, the candidates, who had perforated ear drum earlier and got rectified by surgery, are eligible to apply.

Height Minimum height for male and female candidates shall be 152 cm and 148 cm respectively.

Weight Minimum / maximum weight of candidate should be corresponding to the height of the person within BMI range from 18.5 to less than 25. Candidate with BMI of 17 to 18.5 (mild thinness) and 25 to 27.5 (pre obese) can be considered, subject to otherwise being healthy and further Medical Examination, if necessary.

Vision Distant Vision: 6/18 or better (without wearing glasses or any other aid), correctable to 6/6. Near Vision: N8 (without wearing glasses or any other aid), correctable to N6.

Candidates who are not meeting the above physical standards will not be allowed for Skill Test / Interview (as applicable).

 

Selection Method Of  NURSE/A – “Group B, Non-Gazetted:

All candidates Screened in Stage-I Test will only be allowed to undertake Stage-2 – Advanced Test.

Stage-3 – Skill Test ONLY for those candidates who have cleared the Stage-2 test.

Skill test will be on go/no-go basis. Candidates will be called as per merit.

Candidates clearing the Skills Test to be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage 2.

 

Selection Method Of  SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANT/B (CIVIL) – “Group B, Non-Gazetted”.:

Selection will be made on the basis of Written Test and Personal Interview.

The Written Test will comprise of the following:-

Objective type Written Test of Two Hour duration in the following proportion :

Part-A – Psychometric/Aptitude/General Knowledge – 30 Questions

Part-B – Day-to-Day Science – 20 Questions

Part-C – Specific to Discipline – 50 Questions

– Each correct answer will carry 1 (one) mark and each wrong answer will carry ½ [half] negative mark.

Selection Method Of  SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANT / B (Radiography)– “Group B, Non-Gazetted

Selection will be made on the basis of Written Test and Personal Interview.

The Written Test will comprise of the following:-

Objective type Written Test of Two Hour duration in the following proportion :

Part-A – Psychometric/Aptitude/General Knowledge – 30 Questions

Part-B – Day-to-Day Science – 20 Questions

Part-C – Specific to Discipline – 50 Questions

– Each correct answer will carry 1 (one) mark and each wrong answer will carry ½ [half] negative mark.

Selection Method Of TECHNICIAN – C (CRANE / FORKLIFT OPERATOR )– “Group C, Non-Gazetted”:

Selection process will be similar to the mode of selection of Category – II Stipendiary Trainee as mentioned above consisting of viz; Stage-1 Preliminary Test, Stage-2 Advanced Test and Stage-3 Skill Test.

The Stage 1 & 2 Written Test will be conducted on the same day.

All candidates Screened in Stage-1 Test will only be allowed to undertake the Stage-2 – Advanced Test. Stage-3 – Skill Test ONLY for those candidates who have cleared the Stage-2 test. Skill test will be on go/no-go basis.

Candidates will be called as per merit.

Candidates clearing the Skills Test to be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage 2.

 

Selection Method Of  SUB OFFICER/B “Group B, Non-Gazetted”.

The Selection process will be based on Physical Endurance Test and Written Tests in 2 stages similar to the selection of Category – II Stipendiary Trainees as mentioned earlier viz; Stage-1 Preliminary Test, Stage-2 Advanced Test.

The Physical Assessment Test Details: (As detailed below) will be on go/no-go basis. Candidates will be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit, based on marks secured in Stage 2 Advanced Test.

Written Tests: Only those candidates who qualify the Physical Endurance Test will be called for Written Test. Stage 1 & 2 of Written Tests to be conducted on the same day. All candidates Screened in Stage-1 Test will only be allowed to undertake Stage-2 – Advanced Test.

 

Selection Method Of  STENOGRAPHER GRADE – II – “Group B, Non-Gazetted”.

Level 1 Test – Objective Test covering : a) General English b) General Knowledge c) General Intelligence & Reasoning and d) Quantitative Aptitude (Arithmetic). Qualifying Standard for

Level-1 Test: General Category: 50% aggregate SC/ST/OBC/PH: 40% aggregate

Level 2 Test – Stenography skill Test. Empanelment Criteria : Based on marks obtained in Level 1 & 2 Tests.

 

Selection Method Of  STENOGRAPHER GRADE – III – “Group C, Non-Gazetted”.

Level 1 Test – Objective Test covering : a) General English b) General Knowledge c) General Intelligence & Reasoning and d) Quantitative Aptitude (Arithmetic). Qualifying Standard for

Level-1 Test: General Category: 50% aggregate SC/ST/OBC/PH: 40% aggregate

Level 2 Test – Stenography skill Test. Empanelment Criteria : Based on marks obtained in Level 1 & 2 Tests.

 

Selection Method Of  Upper Division Clerk- “Group C, Non-Gazetted”

Level 1 Test: Objective Test covering : a) General English b) General Knowledge c) General Intelligence & Reasoning and d) Quantitative Aptitude (Arithmetic) Qualifying Standard for

Level-1 Test: General Category: 50% aggregate SC/ST/OBC/PH: 40% aggregate Level 2 Test – English Language and Comprehension (Descriptive written Test).

Empanelment Criteria: Marks obtained in Level 2 (Main) only. Level-1 Test will be only qualifying exam / screening test to shortlist candidates for Level-2 Main Exam.

 

Selection Method Of  DRIVER (ORDINARY GRADE) “Group C, Non-Gazetted:

LEVEL-1 – WRITTEN TEST (Objective Questions based on General Knowledge, General English, Arithmetic, Motor Vehicle Act).

Qualifying Standard for Level-1 Test:

General Category: 50% aggregate and OBC/SC/ST Category: 40% aggregate LEVEL-2 – DRIVING TEST

Empanelment Criteria : Based on Level 1 & 2. (Only those candidates qualifying in Level-1 Written Test will be called for Level- 2 – Driving Test).

 

Selection Method Of  DRIVER-CUM-PUMP OPERATOR-CUM-FIREMAN/A “Group C, Non-Gazetted:

The selection process involves Physical Assessment Test, Driving Test and Written Exam in 2 Stages: The Physical standards and Physical Assesment Test, Driving Test will be conducted first. Candidates who clear these test shall only be allowed to undertake the Written Examination.

Physical Assessment Test Details: (As detailed below)

Driving Test: Driving Test will be conducted for those who qualify in the Physical Assessment Test.

Note: Candidates qualifying in Driving Test will ONLY be called for Stage-1 – Preliminary Test).

Written Examination in 2 Stages: Stage-1 – Preliminary Test :

Written exam comprising of 50 multiple choice questions of one hour duration in the following proportion: Mathematics-20 questions, Science- 20 questions, and General Awareness-10 questions. “3” (Three) Marks will be awarded for each correct answer and “1” (One) Mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

All candidates with <40% in General Category and <30% in reserved category will be screened out.

Stage-2 – Advanced Test: Candidates qualifying in Stage-1 Preliminary Test will only be called for Stage-2 Advanced Test comprising of 50 multiple choice questions of two hour duration in the respective trade. “3” (Three) Marks will be awarded for each correct answer and “1” (One) Mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer
