BSF Constable (Tradesmen) Selection Procedure/Scheme:
The Selection Procedure/Scheme of the Exam will be as follows:
(a) Physical Standard Test (PST).
(b) Physical Efficiency Test (PET)- Five Kilometers (5 Kms) race to be completed within 24 minutes.
(c) Documentation (Original documents will be checked).
(d) Trade Test:- Only qualifying in nature.
The candidates who qualify the PST/PET/Documentation will be put through the respective Trade Test. Each candidate will be allowed to appear for one trade test only as entered in the application form.
Border Security Force Constable (Tradesmen) Written Test for 100 marks:-:
(i) The Written Test for 100 marks containing 100 questions (qualifying marks 35% for GC & Ex- Serviceman and 33% for SC/ST/OBC) will consist of only OMR based objective type multiple choice questions to be answered using Blue or Black Ball Point Pen only. The duration of the written test will be 2 hours.
(ii) The question paper will be set to assess the (i) General Awareness/General Knowledge. (ii) Knowledge of elementary mathematic. (iii) Analytical aptitude and ability to observe the distinguish patterns and to test the (iv) basic knowledge of the candidates in English/Hindi. The questions will be set both in Hindi and English. The papers can be answered either in Hindi or in English
Medical Examination for BSF Constable (Tradesmen) Posts:
(i) The candidates will be medically examined to assess their physical & medical fitness as prescribed in the eligibility conditions as per revised uniform medical guidelines issued by MHA vide UO No. A.VI-1/2014-Rectt (SSB) dated 20-05- 2015. The candidates must not have knock knees, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes.
(ii) Medical examination will be conducted after the written test. Candidates will be called for medical examination in order of merit. Such candidates will be called till such time all vacancies in their respective categories are filled up.
(iii) Candidates having Tattoos will be considered as per following instructions:-

Exam Syllabus for Constable (Tradesman) written test is given below :-
General Awareness/Knowledge: History, Geography and Socio Economic development of Himachal Pradesh. Knowledge of current events of National and International importance and such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. Paper will also include questions on Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Geography of India.
Knowledge of elementary Mathematics: The test of Arithmetical and Numerical abilities will cover Number Systems including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Tables & Graphs, etc.
Analytical Aptitude and ability to Observe the Distinguish Pattern: It will include the question of both verbal and non-verbal type. Question will be asked from analogies, similarities and and differences, problem solving, relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions, Venn diagrams, relationship concepts and Ability to observe and distinguish patterns etc.
General Hindi/English: Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. Questions will be asked from error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, etc.
